What is Farmstead Adventures?

Farmstead Adventures is a small farm and homesteading program for kids ages 6–12 in Conowingo, Maryland. Kids spend time outdoors with animals, nature, hands-on projects, simple homesteading skills, games, crafts, and seasonal activities in a relaxed small-group setting. We have both Full Week and Drop-In days available!

WHAT DO OUR KIDS DO AT CAMP?

SMALL SCALE FARMING AND HOMESTEADING

Small-scale farming and homesteading give kids a chance to see where food comes from, how animals are cared for, and how everyday skills can connect us to creation, hard work, and simple living.

At the Farmstead, kids may experience things like feeding animals, gathering eggs, helping in the garden, learning basic food preservation, making simple recipes, observing plants and insects, and using their hands to create useful things.

These activities help children build confidence, responsibility, patience, curiosity, and respect for animals, nature, and the work that goes into caring for a home and land. Instead of just hearing about farm life, kids get to experience it in a real, hands-on way.

OUTDOOR GAMES AND MOVEMENT

Kids need time to move. Camp includes outdoor games, yard games, pickleball, relay races, team challenges, free play, and other simple activities that help kids build confidence, coordination, and friendships.

When it is hot out, we also include water activities to cool off!

FIELD GUIDE AND CAMP T-SHIRTS

Full-week Kids Week campers receive a Farmstead Adventures field guide and camp T-shirt as part of their registration.

The field guide includes activities like animal facts, scavenger hunts, journaling pages, recipes, sketches, nature observations, and simple homesteading lessons. It gives kids a meaningful way to record what they learn, remember their favorite moments, and take part of the Farmstead experience home with them.

Camp T-shirts help kids feel like part of the group and give them a fun reminder of their week at the Farmstead.

Drop-In Day campers may purchase a field guide and/or T-shirt separately, while supplies last.

SMALL GROUP & FRIENDSHIPS

Farmstead Adventures is intentionally kept small so kids can feel seen, included, and comfortable as they participate throughout the day.

In a smaller group, children have more opportunities to ask questions, try new things, help with activities, and build friendships naturally. Whether they are feeding animals, working on a project, playing games, or cooling off with water play, kids are encouraged to cooperate, take turns, and enjoy being part of the group.

Our goal is to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where kids can make memories, gain confidence, and leave feeling like they were truly part of the Farmstead.
