Today’s Reading (July 15th) Proverbs 7-9

📖 Proverbs 7 Summary — Warning Against the Seductress

• Solomon warns his son to treasure his commandments and keep wisdom close, like a sister.

• He recounts a parable of a young man lacking sense who is lured by a seductive woman.

• Her speech is smooth, her appearance alluring, but her path leads to death and Sheol.

• The chapter ends with a sobering reminder: many strong men have fallen because of this path.

✨ Reflection on Proverbs 7

This is a powerful warning against spiritual and physical adultery. While the literal seductress is dangerous, this also symbolizes false teachings, worldly temptations, and idolatry. As Torah-observant believers, we know the path to life is obedience to Yah’s commands. We are told to bind them on our fingers and write them on our hearts. This is how we stay alert, discerning, and protected from deception that flatters but leads to destruction.

📖 Proverbs 8 Summary — The Call of Wisdom

• Wisdom is personified as a woman calling out to the simple and foolish.

• She offers truth, righteousness, and knowledge that is better than gold.

• Wisdom was with Yah at the beginning of creation—before the earth was formed.

• Those who seek and love her will find life and favor from Yah.

✨ Reflection on Proverbs 8

This chapter beautifully highlights wisdom as eternal, divine, and essential. Wisdom isn’t hidden; she cries aloud in the streets for us to follow her. The Torah is the written form of that wisdom, and Yahusha (Jesus) is the living Word. We are invited into a relationship with Wisdom—one that brings life, discernment, and alignment with Yah’s purposes. Notice how this is the opposite of the seductress from Proverbs 7. Wisdom leads to life; temptation leads to death.

📖 Proverbs 9 Summary — Two Invitations: Wisdom vs. Folly

• Wisdom builds her house and invites the simple to learn and live.

• She offers nourishment and insight, correcting with love.

• In contrast, Folly is loud, seductive, and leads the simple to death in secret.

• The fear of Yah is declared as the beginning of wisdom.

✨ Reflection on Proverbs 9

This chapter lays out a choice between two paths: the way of wisdom or the way of folly. Both call out, but only one leads to life. The difference lies in the source—wisdom begins with the fear of Yah, which means reverence, submission, and obedience to His Word. In a world filled with noise and false promises, we must choose whose voice we heed. Only wisdom, rooted in Torah and fear of Yah, will nourish us and keep us walking uprightly.
